The US is in the middle of a weak online gambling prohibition. US Congress has enacted a new law entitled "Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act" (UIGEA). This law allows each state to make their own laws up to determing legal and illegal online gambling. When a state expresses prohibition, then it is illegal in that state. When a state does not make an expression either way, then it is legal to gamble in that state. This is how the new law works.

These 9 states have expressed online gambling prohibition: Illinois, Indiana, Louisianna, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington and Wisconsin. For players living in the other 41 states, there is little to be concerned about regarding funding an offshore casino account.

I am a business owner and believer in Jesus Christ as our Saviour and friend. Instead of prohibition, I believe, a more reasonable goal is to regulate the online casino industry and set rules to follow. When a casino breaks a rule, enforce a fine. Age restriction guidelines would be enforced successfully when casino operators know that a fine exists.

US Congress should pass a law that regulates the internet gambling industry. Regulation with legalization is the wise choice and will lift the guilt US gamers get from making deposits behind the backs of law makers.

A strong person will be able to make his own mind up on what to do with gambling. The best thing we can do is educate the public on how to be a strong person by aknowledging the powers that we are under and how to make sound money management decisions. We could continue to Just Say No to losing money through meaningless adult entertainment and legalize online gambling with mandatory internet gambling education. This would make the world a better place.
